Choice concerts: The legacy

A few weeks ago, I espoused the virtues of Ivan Neville, the son of Aaron Neville and one member of the second generation of Nevilles in music.

This week, meet Devon Allman.

The son of Gregg Allman, nephew of the late Duane Allman and outstanding Southern rocker in his own right, Devon and his band Honeytribe head to Delray Beach’s City Limits on Saturday night.

Devon’s also got a truly bluesy side, as you can see in this video:

Hope you don’t think I’m cheating, but I think it’s the best show anywhere this weekend. Although if you’d like an alternative, maybe a look at David Byrne at the Fillmore Miami Beach could work — that’s on Saturday too.

  1. Devon Allman Honeytribe is sure to be a sensational show and the venue, city limits, is terrific. If you caught Ivan Neville there a few weeks ago, or have heard any of Dumpstaphunk’s stuff, then you must check out their rendition of Zip a Dee Doo Dah on the compilation, FUNKY KIDZ. Featuring a dozen of Nawlins’ finest, FUNKY KIDZ covers classic children’s songs we all know and love. Trust me, it’s not just for kids. Take a listen at http://www.funkykidzmusic.com
